Great blog! (And a great Tiramisu recipe)

August 5th, 2007 - Written by Joey

tiramisu-cake.jpgBeing of Italian heritage, you’d think that I would have tried to make Tiramisu, the goddess of all desserts.  Well, I haven’t…yet.  However, I believe I’ve found a recipe for my favorite dessert that I just might try.

Ree over at “The Pioneer Woman Cooks” has just about the easiest-looking Tiramisu recipe I’ve ever seen.  It also looks absolutely delicious, which usually does not go hand-in-hand with “easy”, especially in Italian cuisine.  Maybe it’s just that Ree has a knack for using lots of pictures and lots of self-depricating humor, which therefore makes the whole ordeal look like a great time, when it’s really not.

Anyway, I’m going to give it a go this week, and I’ll let ya’ll know how it goes.  In the meantime, check out the rest of “The Pioneer Woman Cooks“.  It’s truly a great cooking blog that’s entertaining at the same time.

***UPDATE****

I made the tiramisu, and it’s AMAZING.  A very, very good recipe, and really, not that difficult.  Expensive, but not difficult.  Give it a try!

Hey Joey, glad you read the recipe! I had forgotten to show you it. Remember the conversation we had not too long ago about the fact that there are lots of blogs out there with loads of interesting information but it’s really the format/layout of the blog that keeps me coming back. Her site is a perfect example of what I’m talking about!

Let me know if you need some Italian help ;)

PS: when it is too hot to enjoy a real creamy tiramisu, you MUST try the “summer version” created by my mom… I’ll send you the recipe! Kisses

Well, ya’ll… I made the Tiramisu, and it was absolutely HEAVENLY. I did a great job, but I have to say that Ree’s recipe and pictures really make this fool-proof, so I can hardly take much credit.

It took me about an hour and a half to make it (I cheated and allowed the mixtures to cool in the freezer… I don’t have any patience whatsoever.) It really was fairly simple. Shopping for the ingredients was half the battle, since I live in the sticks.

I brought some to work, and everyone went crazy over it. I’m thinking of making it again this weekend.

I also made Chicken Marsala the same evening that I made the Tiramisu, and my hubby loved so much that he attempted to make it last night, when I was out entertaining some visitors for work. He failed. I think he appreciates me more, now. ;)

By the way, I don’t believe that Tiramisu is all that fattening. In fact, I think it probably has less fat in two pieces than one brownie made from a mix. That’s just a guess, however. I can lie to myself. It makes me feel better.

Just remember, though, if you make this, it is VERY EXPENSIVE. (Dairy prices.)

I tried this recipe last year and I absoultely loved it!! It was my first time making tiramisu and it came out so well.

The site has been down for so long now. Is there any way to post the recipe again or send it to me, please?! I would truly appreciate it. Thanks!
