But of course!

breast_cancer_awareness_lg1.pngI’m growing very tired of so-called “studies” linking diseases to the most obscure things imaginable.  Check this out:

Racial discrimination tied to breast cancer risk

NEW YORK (Reuters Health) – Black women who feel they’ve been victims of racial discrimination are more likely than their peers to develop breast cancer, a large study suggests.

The relationship was stronger among women younger than 50, researchers found. This finding is particularly interesting, they note, in light of the fact that, unlike the case with older women, breast cancer is more common among young black women than young white women.

It’s possible that racial discrimination plays some role, according to the researchers, led by Dr. Teletia R. Taylor of Howard University in Washington, D.C.

“Black women who feel they’ve been victims of discrimination”?  Now we’re basing science on ‘feelings’?

Do any of the rest of you feel like you’re living in a South Park episode?  I couldn’t make this stuff up.  And how is it that these scientists can have any semblance of respect for themselves after doing such a study?  Also, you truly wonder about how stupid the media and these scientists believe the American people to be?  I can’t speak for everyone else, but I find it to be absolutely insulting that they believe that we will fall for this crap.

This article is proof-positive that government study grants and money from silly non-profts do nothing but provide a good living for pseudo-scientists, and give the left all sorts of reasons to grow government even more.  (Yes, I’m talking about the Susan G. Komen Foundation, which forces the guilt-ridden, self-loathing participants of their “Race for the Cure” walks to raise over $2000 per person to even participate in the walks, thus allowing them to pay their staffers upwards of $150,000 per year and donate to rediculous studies like this one.)  When science feeds at the government and so-called non-proft troughs, we should all be very, very skeptical of that science.

Thanks to LaShawn Barber for the hat tip.

  • As a side note, I cannot link to the Susan G. Komen foundation’s website.  They have a militant linking policy that I refuse to comply with.  If you’re interested in viewing their finanical documents, do a Google search using this phrase: Susan G. Komen financial statment.  What you will find is that in 2005-2006, the so-called non-profit received more than $260 million in contributions, and brags that they use 84% of that to fund causes for breast cancer.  You do the math on that one, and tell me how these ‘non-profits’ aren’t turning a profit – and hefty salaries – of off the guilt of American women.  Also, be sure to check out their 2005-2006 Parent 990 form to see the salaries and pensions of their employees.  And yes, I’m fully expecting loads of hate mail on this one.
