Just a-spreadin’ that wealth around!

October 13th, 2008 - Written by Joey

I don’t know why some folks are spending so much time researching online, trying to find out if Barack Obama was ever a member of the Socialist Party.  This video is evidence enough.

The thing Obama forgets is that there are people like me out there…People who made mistakes when they were young, struggled because of it (both financially and emotionally), pulled themselves up by their bootstraps, made better decisions, worked hard, found themselves in a better place, and actually did it all without the help of a paternalistic government.  I didn’t need Barack Obama to steal money from this plumber and give it to me.  I needed to feel the pain of my own poor decisions.  I needed to admit that I was experiencing the repercussions of my actions, and that only I could change my situation.

A good friend of mine works at a leading discount retail store (I’ll let you guess which one).  She also works full-time during the day at a different job.  In all, my friend works about 64 hours per week, sometimes more.

Every time I talk to her, she tells me stories about people at the checkout, buying $250 worth of groceries with food stamps.  Then, behind the food on the conveyor are things like DVD’s, CD’s, video games, hair dye, cheesy plastic seasonal objects, fake nails, stuffed animals, and electronics.  Since they have food stamps, they now can buy all of those useless luxury (I use that term loosely) items that they could never have afforded if they had to actually use those hundred dollar bills in their wallets to buy something as completely meaningless as food.

If that wasn’t enough, she also is continually running into the problem where a food item isn’t covered under the food stamp program, and the food stamp recipient proceeds to rip my friend a new one.  Yes, that’s right folks.  My friend, who has two jobs and works her tail off to support her family and pay her taxes, is paying for some lazy jerk who wouldn’t know a job (or a budget) if it came up and bit them on the ass to scream at her because their Sarah Lee french silk pie wasn’t covered by the taxpayers… Which ironically, includes my friend.

Personally, I wouldn’t last a day working at that place.  I’d wind up flipping out , for sure.  But I’m getting away from the plumber and Obama, so let’s revisit that, shall we?

Obama says that he’s going to give a tax cut to 95% of income earners.  Like the gal in the video says, 1/3 of Americans don’t even pay taxes.  So, Obama’s going to tax the crap out of people like my dad and (presumably) this plumber, who owns and runs a small business, and then give my hard-working father’s and this plumber’s earnings to the jerks my friend deals with in the checkout line at her second job.  Brilliant.

I think we do plenty of spreading the wealth around already, thanks.  Maybe if we saw a return on our ‘investment’ and actually saw these people doing more than buying plastic yard ornaments at Walmart with the money they saved from not having to pay for their food, we’d be a little more understanding.

I was a poultry butcher for four years, starting when I was nineteen years old.  I hated it, but I had to support my child.  I didn’t get any child support or welfare checks.  A good portion of my paycheck went to pay for my son’s and my own health insurance, and another large portion went to pay for my babysitter.  I had to have a roommate because I couldn’t afford rent and utilities on my own.  I did what I had to do, because I didn’t believe that using the fruits of someone else’s labor to pay for my own bad decisions was the right thing to do.

But Obama doesn’t believe that the rest of America is as ‘able’ as I am.  He doesn’t believe that poor single mothers can rise up out of their situations by choosing to make good decisions and hold down jobs.  He believes that the poor of America are dimwits who can’t do it on their own.  Well I did it, Mr. Obama…and I’m nothing special.  I’m just someone who decided to stop blaming other people for my own mistakes and misfortune.

I’m sure there are millions of stories just like mine all over America.  Stories where a person in poverty defies expectations and makes well for themselves.  Many of them are small business owners, and these are the very people who Obama seeks to steal from so that Miss Food Stamps can buy her fake nails, cell phones, cigarettes, and gigantic blow-up pumpkin yard ornaments.

Punishing hard work, dedication and persistence is not a good economic plan.  It’s not even a bad one.  It’s hideous at first glance, but after you have a chance to think about it for awhile, it’s a massive pile of stinky, fly-infested crap.  And no one’s investing in piles fly-infested stinky crap right now.  (Except the Federal government.)

This guy needs to be defeated in three weeks.  He is a poison to our already crumbling economic system (thanks to Bill, ACORN, Freddie, Fannie and Barney for that), and he has no faith in the American people.  He is absolutely unfit for office.

Vote this socialist off of our television screens and out of this race, America.  He is creeping me out, hardcore.

(As an aside, that little cabin in the middle of the woods with the chickens, a garden, and lots of deer running around is going to be lookin’ pret-ty darn good if this bandit gets into office. I’ll be busy clinging to my guns and religion [and tasty venison steaks] while the Obamamaniacs are standing in line waiting for their ration of government cheese from the back of a military truck.  I wonder if they’ll be singing his praises then?  “Obama believes that we all deserve equal rations of government cheese!  Equal government cheese for all!  All hail Obama, the benefactor of our government cheese!”)

Wow.  I think I need to go to bed.

And that, my friends, is my un-edited Pheisty rant for this Monday evening.

As one of those single mothers working hard to get myself out of the situation I got into all by myself, and sacrificing all of the cheezy yard crap and fake fingernails to send my son to a private school and pay cash for our food and insurance, I say AMEN!! I can always count on you to get me worked up into a rage right before bed time… Keep up the good work!
