Obama’s Birth Certificate

So I’ve been researching the latest story about Barack Obama’s birth certificate, and the lawsuit that attorney Philip J. Berg (longtime Democrat) has filed in an attempt to force the Presidential candidate to provide the following:

  • 1. a certified copy of Obama’s “vault” (original long version) Birth Certificate;
  • 2. a certified copy of Obama’s Certificate of Citizenship; and
  • 3. a certified copy of the Oath of Allegiance taken by Obama taken at the age of majority. To date, attorneys for Barack Obama have filed almost as many motions fighting the lawsuit(2), as the number of documents the suit is asking for(3).

As any American should know, you cannot be President of the United States without being a naturally-born citizen.  Apparently, there’s very good reason to believe that Obama was actually born in Kenya.

Berg asserts that Obama was born at Mombasa Maternity Hospital in Kenya, and that Obama’s mother, Stanley Ann Dunham, was only 18 at the time of his birth.  At that time, parents could pass their US citizenship on to their children even if they were born in a different country, but only if the parent was 19 years of age.

According to Berg’s lawsuit, Dunham was in Kenya during her pregnancy, but was prevented from flying back to Hawaii because she was in the late stages, and because there were restrictions to prevent births on flights.  In fact, Obama’s own paternal grandmother, half-brother, and half-sister have stated that Obama was born in Kenya.  After the birth, Dunham flew to Hawaii to register the birth.

No birthing records can be found in either of the two hospitals said to be Obama’s birthplace–Kapiolani Hospital and Queens Hospital (that’s right…I said either of the two)– that list Stanley Ann Dunham as a patient who gave birth.  Simple “registry of birth” records for Barack Obama are available in a Hawaiian public records office.

Obama has refused to provide the requested documents, but  has posted an alleged copy of his birth certificate on his website.  I refuse to link to it (for reasons of self-preservation), but you can find it by googling “Fight the Smears Obama Birth Certificate”.

Here’s what it looks like:

It has apparently been deemed a forgery by three forensic experts.

(Also of note is an interesting blog post that states that in 1961, there’s no way that Obama’s father’s race would have been listed as ‘African’, but rather ‘Negro’.  I’m no expert in this sort of thing, but I thought it was interesting enough to post.  Check it out.)

But that’s not the end.

When Obama was a young boy (about six years of age), he and his mother moved to Indonesia, where she married an Indonesian man named Lolo Soetoro.  At that time, Indonesians could not have dual citizenship.  Berg has copies of Obama’s school registration forms, which list his citizenship as Indonesian, and list his name as “Barry Soetoro”.  Obama returned to the US when he was 17, and no Oath of Allegiance has been produced that would show Obama became a US Citizen.

In other words, this would mean that not only is Barack Obama not a natural-born American, which would make him ineligible for running for President, but he  is also an illegal alien.

Hey, I know it sounds crazy, but if he’d just produce the documents, we wouldn’t have to go through all of this.

Apparently the DNC has jumped on board and along with Obama’s attorneys, have filed a joint motion to dismiss Berg’s lawsuit.

“I think it’s outrageous,” Berg said. “The Democratic National Committee should be ensuring the Democratic Party and the public that they have a qualified candidate up there. To file a joint motion is like they’re in cahoots.

“Since then, I have asked by way of press release that Howard Dean resign, because (the DNC members) are not fulfilling their duties,” Berg said.

“The DNC has a responsibility to all Democrats in this country to make sure that all of their candidates are properly vetted and properly qualified,” Berg added. “I think it’s really an outrage to the 18-plus million people who voted for Obama and the people who donated more than $425 million to him under false pretenses.”

Why not just produce the documents?  Why not let a court decide if the documents are legit?  Well, because if it is discovered that the documents are not legit, he’d not only have to forfeit his campaign for the Presidency of the United States, but he’d also have to be arrested and deported for being an illegal alien.  Also consider the over $400 million that has been given to this man.

Again, all of this sounds pretty crazy.  About as crazy as a Presidential candidate befriending terrorists (William Ayers), scumbag thieves (Tony Rezko), racist and America-hating preachers (Jeremiah Wright) and corrupt organizations that engage in massive voter fraud and help create economic meltdowns (ACORN).

And the Democrats are talking about Palin not being properly vetted?

Here’s a great (but lengthy) post on the whole affair.  I highly recommend taking the time to read it.

I’ve done some more research and have found quite a few things that make Berg’s claims about Obama’s Indonesian citizenship unfounded.

The first is the presence a law from the 1960’s, which reads:

“A person having American nationality, who is a minor and is residing in a foreign state with or under the legal custody of a parent who loses American nationality under section 404 of this Act, shall at the same time lose his American nationality if such minor has or acquires the nationality of such foreign state: Provided, That, in such case, American nationality shall not be lost as the result of loss of American nationality by the parent unless and until the child attains the age of twenty-three years without having acquired permanent residence in the United States.”

Find a good analysis here.

In other words, Obama would not have lost his citizenship provided that he returned to the US before the age of 23.  He did.

This still does not verify where he was born, but I thought it was interesting geeky legal stuff, and is obviously pertinent to this case.

Reality Check: Who’s full of rage?

I’m sure you’ve heard it all over the media, how ‘enraged’ and ‘frightening’ McCain/Palin supporters are.  For a reality check, I suggest you check out Michelle Malkin’s latest post. (Warning! The images, language and videos are disturbing.  Don’t say I didn’t warn you.) Here’s a small sampling: The photo above is …

Pheisty Rant: ACORN, Barack Obama, Dirty Democrats, and Hope-o-crisy

Turn down your speakers…it goes fast, so pay attention. I would have preferred this video not to be a McCain ad (not endorsed), simply because I don’t think it’s necessary.  People just need the facts, and then they can decide for themselves which candidate supports ‘more of the same’. I …

Born Alive

As a libertarian-leaning conservative, I believe in the rights of all human beings.  We can argue the currently legal act of abortion all day long and most of us won’t change our stance on this issue, but you can’t argue that a baby born alive during an abortion procedure shouldn’t …
