To freak out, or not to freak out

That’s the question I asked myself when a friend informed me about Barack Obama removing the American flag from his campaign jet.
The neo-con in me (yes, there’s still some sticky neo-con residue clinging in the crevices of my brain) wanted to freak out. But rather than acting irrationally, I decided to do some investigating and hopefully calm my emotions while proceeding to educate myself on this particular story.
What I discovered was that Obama did indeed have the American flag painted over in order to insert his infamous “O” sunrise logo onto the tail of the jet. What I also discovered is that Obama’s plane was once an North American Airlines plane, which had an American flag on the tail. The entire thing was repainted–as most campaign jets often are–to make room for his logo and marketing phrase, “Change we can believe in”.
Also of note… John McCain’s plane doesn’t have a flag anywhere on it. It isn’t even red, white and blue. It’s blue and gold.
I’m happy to say that in the end, logic prevailed over my emotions. Also, for everyone raising hell about Obama’s plane’s facelift, I suggest you concentrate more on the facelift he plans on giving America. I assure you it’s much more frightening than a coat of paint, and significantly more damaging.
Also keep in mind that facelifts are pretty much permanent, unless you want to go through intense pain and a whole lot of time and money only to have the outcome be frighteningly worse than what you started with. I give you Joan Rivers:
(I wonder if that hurts her eyes to have ‘em all jacked up like that?)
Let’s all take a deep breath and realize that even if Obama’s (or his handlers’) plans were to remove any semblance of America from his campaign by painting his jet (which I strongly doubt) his plans to remove any semblance of America from America are much easier to identify and prove. I’d rather not play thought police with the plane deal, but rather look at his policies and determine that he doesn’t like America from that perspective.
Besides, when we freak out about flag lapel pins and paint jobs on planes, we give the crazy liberal moonbats ammo.
Let’s not do that, mmm-kay?

Frightening indeed … and that’s putting it mildly!
