Pheistyblog: A New Direction
May 12th, 2007 - Written by Joey
So I’ve been really convicted lately about how I’ve been treating the Global Warming folks. Now before all of my fellow Conservatives start screaming at thier monitors, just take a deep breath… Did you take a deep breath? Good. Now let me tell you why I’m going to try to change the focus of my stories from here on out.
First off, I have identified Environmentalism as a religion here on my blog. People far more intelligent than I have already stated this many times, and I think it’s pretty obvious that this is the case. Therefore, if our goal is to try to show them the facts and why their way of thinking is flawed, and if people of the Environmental faith are to really dig into the facts of what they believe and why, we can’t continue blasting them for their faith if we are to gain any sort of ground on this issue. The conversations that need to happen won’t, if we continue down the road we’re currently on.
I’m a Christian. If a group of atheists are blasting me about my faith, and are making fun of me and telling me that I’m stupid for what I believe, am I really going to want to listen to a word they say? Of course not. Because I’ve already identified them as my enemy, and they aren’t saying anything productive that would make me want to hear their perspective, I will either avoid them at all costs, or I will resort to calling them names, as well. However, if a group of athiests were stating what they thought to be controversial facts about the Christian faith or the Bible in a respectful, honest way, I would be more likely to engage in a good discussion with them. As conservatives, we need to see this from that perspective. We can’t continue to blast the left if we are to gain any headway. This is not a game, folks. This is the future of our great Nation.
We need to give respect to gain respect.
But I’m not one to talk…I have been disrespectful, overly sarcastic, and downright mean to people of the Environmental faith. For this, I sincerely apologize. Now, I’m not saying that I won’t continue to challenge their beliefs. On the contrary, I plan to post more facts than I did before, only I want to post them in a respectful manner that encourages healthy debate.
Many people who are die-hard Republicans will read this and think that I’m getting too ’soft’. No way. I am going to go after the facts more diligently than ever before. That is now my goal. It was before, also, but this time I’m going to attempt go at it in a totally respectful manner. That may not be ’sexy’, and it may not get my blog as noticed as if I were to try to be the Ann Coulter of Wisconsin, but I have to do what I know in my heart is right. When I started this blog, I hoped that I could make it popular enough to quit my job, write for a living, and gain fame. (I’m just being honest.) But I really don’t care about those things, anymore. I just want to do what’s right, and I want to be a part of the solution.
With that said, I need for you, my faithful group of readers, to hold me accountable. If I get off-track, please remind me what my purpose is: To bridge the divide in this country, and to inform people about what the media is not - with hard facts - and to be respectful in the process. In the end, I want to encourage the debates that need to happen, so that we can get back to the task of creating a better America.
A great American, ‘Bessie Delany’ once said:
“I thought I could change the world. It took me a hundred years to figure out I can’t change the world. I can only change Bessie. And honey, that ain’t easy either.”

Good Luck Pheisty! I hope this works! You know what they did to our president George W. Bush don’t you when he tried to be civil with the other side…Hey, wait….He did become one of the Greatest Presidents known in our time! Despite the constant barrage of attacks and attempts to marginalize George W. Bush it only made him better and his accomplishments more significant even though you will never hear about them in the media. Maybe you are onto something Joey! Rep. Mark Olson was right! And the liberals just hate that even more so it is a win, win, win all around! Go for it!
