tree huggingA Silicon Valley lawmaker is gaining momentum with a bill that would  require "climate change" to be among the science topics that all California public school students are taught.

The measure, by state Sen. Joe Simitian, D-Palo Alto, also would mandate that future science textbooks approved for California public schools include climate change.

Newsbusters

Good.  Then we’ll have a permanent record of what cultish, brainwashing thugs these people are when this enormous lie is exposed.

Equally good:  If The People’s Republic of California does happen to legislate this modern-day mythology into textbooks as if it were fact, I tend to think it may prompt kids to challenge it.

Kids are inquisitive, and believing that humans can change the weather is no more believable than a little fairy floating around the world, paying them for their lost baby teeth.   They will question it eventually.  Children aren’t as gullible as we think they are, and I believe that they are the ones who will start challenging this craziness.  So let’s give them a little more credit, and start trusting the fact that if anyone is going to question human-induced climate change and expose it for what it really is, it’s going to be our kids.

The real issue here – that will be overlooked, no doubt, due to its lack of "sexiness" – is the continual interference of government forcing what they think ought to be taught or not taught in the classroom.  Just as we generally don’t trust children with their own minds, the big-government loving folks don’t trust our educators and parents to adequately prepare them for adult life.

We’ll see what transpires.

They were teaching us climate change in the public schools back in the 1970s. We learned about the glaciers that slide across Wisconsin some 10,000 years ago.

Requiring certain subjects to be taught in school has been going on for decades…although the subject matter is spreading out. I would think, since we have government sponsored education, that we would expect to have certain guidelines for what is being taught. Gee, without guidelines, we could have teachers telling students that Ronald Reagan was a bad guy and Karl Marx was a good guy.

I love the tree hugger picture. I have an organization called Tree Huggers For A New Bridge (THFANB) that is fighting to get a new bridge built in Stillwater. I am fighting against all those rednecks who blame the tree huggers for the bridge not being built. The untold truth — and I believe there is a conspiracy behind this — is that the bridge is being delayed because of the historic preservationists trying to save the old bridge. If they tore down the old bridge, there would be no problem getting a new bridge built.

Please note, that I am sympathetic to the historic preservationist too. I advocate leaving a birch bark canoe along the shore, for those who want to cross the river in the fashion that was historically used for many hundreds of years.
