Free the Groundhog Day Rally
January 18th, 2008
For Immediate Release
Minnesotans For Global Warming Is having a rally at the Minnesota Capital on the South Side Capital Steps on Saturday February 2, Groundhog Day from 12 -2PM.
The Rally is called Minnesotans For Global Warming - Free The Groundhog Day - Don’t Tax Our Breath Rally!
The purpose of the rally is to gather and inform Minnesotans of upcoming legislation being proposed by the Minnesota Environmental Partnership, and all the other Federal and international CO2 taxes that are being proposed and signed into law. It is our belief that these taxes will serve only to put a further burden on the Minnesota taxpayer and have no effect on the climate.
We also will ask participants to go to their caucuses and propose legislation fighting these draconian laws. We will also provide a list of how the presidential candidates stand on this issue. We will hand out this act to be read at the caucuses and to be added to the parties platform. Here is a long draft.
Don’t Tax Our Breath Act
We believe that manmade Global Warming is a myth, and that climate change is a natural phenomenon that has affected humanity throughout the ages. We also believe that carbon dioxide (CO2), is a non-polluting gas that occurs naturally, it even occurs when we breath and is essential to plant photosynthesis, without which there would be no life on earth.
We also believe that it is not possible to alter global climate through cuts in human greenhouse gas emissions, and that these attempts to tax and regulate CO2 will just increase human suffering.
Therefore, we here by move that emitting CO2 is not a harmful to the environment but actually beneficial, and that breathing and other normal day to day activities such as cooking, heating your home, driving or turning on lights is a basic human right and in its relation to the climate should not be taxed or regulated by any form of government in any way.
Come join us on the steps of the capitol in the balmy -25 degree global warming weather, and please stop by and visit the host of this event…

If it weren’t so flippin’ cold down here, I’d consider coming up there to help ya out! But I don’t much care to have my nose freeze off!

Oh make no mistake… I’m there. I sense a carpooling adventure in our future.
We should get in touch with Wayne, too. I bet he’d want to go.

I know what you’re sayin’, Kate. But I guess the “freezing” aspect of it is what makes the irony so sweet.;-) Let us know if you change your mind. I have lots and lots of facemasks - which probably won’t make for a very nice photo opportunity (a bunch of protestors on the capital stairs with ski-masks on), but we’d be warm!

Hmm, maybe this would make for a good opportunity for the four of us to finally get together and meet? maybe we can make the rally then go out for dinner or something…
