I just had another great conversation with my son, who I have to say is at least 100 times smarter than I was at his age.  We were talking about capitalism and socialism, and mentioned something about how so many people he talks with are angry at the wealthy of this nation.  What I heard come from his mouth during our conversation gave me newfound hope in our future:

“Mom, I’m happy that there are rich people in America.  It makes me believe that I could maybe be rich, too, someday.  If there weren’t any rich people, that would mean that we lived in a pretty crummy country.”

I’m happy to say that I’ve raised a boy who doesn’t hate people just because they have more than he does, but rather sees them as proof of his freedom.
